Under the Surrogacy (Regulation) Act, 2021 (effective January 25, 2022), India permits only altruistic surrogacy for eligible heterosexual married couples, widows or divorcees under strict age and medical criteria ,( indiacode.nic.in). For official rules and notification details, the National ART & Surrogacy Portal hosted by the Department of Health Research (MoHFW) provides comprehensive resources, including the Surrogacy Regulation Rules, 2022 and amendment drafts for 2023 (artsurrogacy.gov.in). Additionally, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) website contains the full text of both the ART and Surrogacy Acts, along with relevant notifications and regulatory guidelines (icmr.gov.in).
India has several good cities for surrogacy, but the most popular ones are Delhi, Mumbai, and Jaipur.
Delhi is known for top fertility clinics with experienced doctors and good success rates.
Mumbai also has advanced medical facilities and a lot of options for surrogacy.
Jaipur is great if you want something more affordable but still reliable.
It really depends on what you’re looking for—like budget, travel convenience, and the clinic’s reputation. Also, keep in mind that surrogacy in India is regulated by the government, so it’s important to choose clinics registered under the official guidelines.
