A test tube baby is a baby born through IVF (In-Vitro Fertilisation). In this process, the egg from the mother and sperm from the father are combined outside the body in a laboratory dish (often called a “test tube,” which is why it’s called a test tube baby). After the egg is fertilized and becomes an embryo, it is placed in the mother’s uterus to grow naturally. This method is used by couples who cannot conceive naturally due to problems like blocked fallopian tubes, low sperm count, or unexplained infertility. The first test tube baby in the world was Louise Brown, born in 1978 in England.

A test tube baby is a common term people use for a child born through IVF (In-Vitro Fertilization). In this process, the egg from a woman and the sperm from a man are collected and fertilized in a laboratory, outside the body. Once the embryo forms, doctors place it back into the woman’s uterus, where it can grow naturally like in a regular pregnancy.

This technique is helpful for couples who are facing infertility due to blocked fallopian tubes, low sperm count, hormonal issues, or unexplained reasons. Although the term “test tube baby” sounds very scientific, in reality, it’s just a safe and advanced medical method to help couples achieve their dream of parenthood.

Millions of babies worldwide have been born healthy through IVF, and it is considered a trusted medical solution.

You can read more about IVF and assisted reproductive technology on the official CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) website.
