Human pregnancy (gestation) typically lasts about 40 weeks (≈ 280 days), counted from the first day of the last menstrual period (LMP). While conception occurs roughly two weeks after LMP, medical professionals use this convention so that by the time a pregnancy test is positive, you are already considered around 4 weeks pregnant
Pregnancy is divided into three trimesters:

• First trimester: weeks 1–13 (from LMP)
• Second trimester: weeks 14–27
