ICSI stands for Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection. Here’s a clear, easy timeline:

  1. Ovarian stimulation: daily hormone shots for ~8–12 days to mature multiple eggs.

  2. Egg retrieval: short procedure under mild anaesthesia to collect eggs.

  3. Sperm prep: sperm is collected/sorted the same day.

  4. ICSI in the lab: a single sperm is injected into each mature egg.

  5. Fertilization check: about 16–18 hours later (day 1) embryologists check for fertilized eggs.

  6. Embryo culture: embryos grow in the lab for 2–5 days.

  7. Embryo transfer: one or more embryos are placed into the uterus (commonly day 2/3 or day 5).

  8. Pregnancy test: done ~10–14 days after transfer; medicines (luteal support) are usually continued until then.
