The History of Malhotra Nursing & Maternity Home (P) Ltd. dates back to a pre-independence era when Rai Bahadur Dr. S.N. Malhotra was recognized by the British Empire and humanity. Dr. Malhotra retired as Principal Medical & Health Officer (Rajasthan). One of the first Indian Doctors to have a qualification of M.D. and M.S. from Lahore Medical College. He was then joined by his son and daughter-in-law, R.M. Malhotra and Prabha Malhotra towards the dedicated efforts of mankind. Starting their efforts in 1957 from Bharatpur (Raj.), the family shifted to Agra (U.P.) in 1959, thereby establishing the first Private Nursing Home of the state.
The Hospital catered to the need of patients of all kinds for 15 years. It was then in 1975 when the Hospital finally decided to move to specialized services and they opted for one of the most neglected and the most important issues of life i.e. maternal and child care. Then emerged the Malhotra Nursing and Maternity Home, as it stands today.
In 1977, continuing their efforts, the hospital started the use of Laparoscopy and in 1982 the first Linear Ultrasound Unit of the state was established by Dr. Prabha Malhotra. The house was then joined by their two young, energetic and enthusiastic family members Narendra and Jaideep (Son and Daughter-in-law of R.M. and Prabha Malhotra), who gave the hospital Transvaginal Ultrasound & Colour Doppler Ultrasound, as soon as they joined. Continuing the spirit of expansion and service, the Hospital started one of the latest available techniques of operation i.e. operative Endoscopy in 1995.
One of the most important achievements of the house was the establishment of the Test Tube Baby Centre in Agra, in 1997, and the first baby of U.P. State by this technique was born on 1st August 1998. Till March 2010 over 916 babies were born by IVF, ICSI TESA at the Agra center.
